I use no cookies on brickcode.it and don't track you across other sites. This policy explains what data I collect, why and for how long.
01Data controller

02Contact form and email
Contacting me by form or email involves processing your name, email address, chosen topic, message and the language version of the site.
I use this data to reply and continue our correspondence. The legal basis is Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR for steps taken at your request before entering into a contract. In other cases, it is Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR, my legitimate interest in answering messages.
You choose whether to provide this data. To reply, though, I need your name and email address.
I keep the data throughout our correspondence and for up to 3 years afterwards in case of potential claims. If we enter into a contract, tax and accounting law determines how long I retain it.
03Server logs and security
On each visit, the hosting server logs the request's technical details: your IP address, the date and time, the page requested and your browser type. To prevent spam, I limit the number of messages sent from a single IP address. For this purpose, the address is also kept in server memory for up to one hour.
This processing relies on Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR, my legitimate interest in the site's security and proper operation. Logs are automatically deleted within 30 days.
04Visitor statistics (Umami)
Traffic is measured with Umami Analytics, which works without cookies, user profiles or tracking across other sites. Umami briefly uses your IP address to estimate your country and create a one-off anonymous visit identifier. The IP address itself is never stored.
The statistics cover page views and a few anonymous events, including opening the terminal, changing the accent color and submitting the form. For form submissions, only the topic and language are recorded, with no name, email address or message content.
The basis for this processing is Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR: my legitimate interest in understanding how people use the site and improving it. Any content blocker can disable these statistics without affecting how the site works.
05Cookies and browser storage
I use no cookies, advertising tools or tracking tools such as Google Analytics or Meta Pixel on this site. Only three technical settings are saved in your browser. None is ever sent to a server:
- brickcode:accent (localStorage): saves your choice of accent color.
- brickcode:vim-hint (localStorage): records that you've already seen the keyboard-shortcut hint.
- brickcode:intro-seen (sessionStorage): records that the intro animation has played; closing the tab clears it.
06Recipients
The following providers help me run the site and may receive data. They process it solely on my instructions and under data processing agreements (DPAs):
- Vercel Inc. (USA): hosts the site and handles the contact form backend and server logs.
- Resend (Plus Five Five, Inc., USA): delivers messages from the form to my inbox.
- Umami Software, Inc. (USA): provides anonymous visitor statistics.
- Apple Distribution International Ltd. (iCloud+, Ireland): hosts the mailbox at contact@brickcode.it.
07Transfers outside the EEA
Data may be processed outside the European Economic Area because some providers are based in the USA. Transfers are covered by the European Commission's adequacy decision for the EU-US Data Privacy Framework where the provider is certified, or by Standard Contractual Clauses approved by the Commission. 08Your rights
Your rights concerning the processing of your data include:
- access to your data and a copy of it,
- correction of your data,
- erasure of your data,
- restriction of processing,
- portability of the data you submitted through the form,
- objection to processing based on legitimate interest,
- lodging a complaint with the President of the Personal Data Protection Office, the Polish supervisory authority (UODO, ul. Stawki 2, 00-193 Warsaw), or with the authority in your own EU country.
09Profiling
Visitors are not profiled, and I make no automated decisions about you.
10Changes
